I have been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally found the chance. Walked in around 3/4pm with two friends. The restaurant was mostly empty, just another two or three tables. You have the option of either hot pot, bbq or both. We opted for just hot pot. We ordered our soup bases and listed which foods we wanted and off we went. There was A LOT of food. And everything was absolutely delicious (we couldn't stop raving about it all day. I think about going back every day since). If you're looking for a better quality but affordable AYCE hot pot or kbbq experience, I would recommend here over and over again. What an excellent experience!

I've been here a couple times now, and I would say this is a solid AYCE hot pot option! I'm still partial to 99 Favor Taste, but this place is a good backup for sure. It's pretty big - there are some tables on the first floor and then larger tables downstairs. They also do the free birthday meal, and they don't play the birthday song like at 99 Favor Taste! I'm taking off a star because they don't have a pork bone broth, which is odd. I usually go for the plain chicken broth, which I feel like is not as flavorful as the usual pork bone broth. I chose the tomato broth once, which started out really good but ended up being too flavorful for me. They don't have the most options, but it's definitely enough to keep you satisfied. Their portions are quite small, which really isn't an issue for AYCE hot pot. I actually feel better seeing smaller portions vs like a lot of food waste. Their sauce bar is pretty standard. I do really like the red bean soup that they had. It was very light and refreshing, and a great way to end your meal!

Back again for a birthday dinner party of 7 on a Monday evening, the place was only about 25-30% full considering the early weekday. They still do the birthday special where if the birthday person brings at least 3 other people then the birthday boy/gal eats for free. Another good thing is they can accommodate pretty large groups if not at one table then spread out over a couple/few. Still a solid AYCE hotpot and bbq experience at a relatively more modest cost than some other places (although more than it used to be 10 years ago, when hotpot alone was $35pp!). Would recommend this spot in the current environment of rising inflation, tho of course the AYCE works out better for people with larger appetites. Flavors or pretty good--both different hotpot broth flavors and the marinated/non-marinated meat options. Considering how empty the restaurant was, the service was quite attentive and they also cooked the bbq meats for the table.

We went here last week as a last minute outing and they looked busy but we're grateful that they were accommodating and let us get in. This was my first time getting hotpot and Korean BBQ so I was really worried about my allergies (eggs, soy and peanuts) getting in the way. But I was able to eat here perfectly fine so don't worry if you have the same allergies. The restaurant looks really clean and is kinda spacier than I thought. The bathroom is also really clean too (rare in NY lol). They were having a deal for both hot pot and bbq for $41.99 per person, so that wasn't too bad considering that it's all you can eat as well. Our server was really nice and attentive. The food itself was amazing especially the BBQ the servers prepared. The drinks were okay(mine wasn't too strong but tasted good and my gfs drink was overpowered by the alcohol), but It paired well with the food. We'll definitely be trying hot pot and bbq because of this experience and would recommend giving this place a try.

Hometown is a clean and big restaurant with affordable prices to eat all you want in Chinatown. The staff is patient and kind, but quite busy since the restaurant is big with many tables. We were 8 and were seated at the large room in the back. There was a SPECIAL PRICE including all you can eat hotpot and bbq combo for 41.99 plus taxes for 1.5 hours. Drinks or desserts are not included. You pick your broth type and then all the ingredients you want including meats, seafood, and veggies and the same for bbq. Everything is fresh and you can decide how you cook it in your individual pot. For the bbq they cook it for you. They actually REFILL your broth if you want more. There is a sauce station where you can create your own sauce, it was fun and I was really happy with the result. Make sure you put some PEANUT SAUCE! I went on safe mode and ordered the PLAIN CHICKEN BROTH, but it was not too flavorful, seemed watered down. I liked everything but the only I do not recommend was the EGGPLANT for the bbq, they added some garlic sauce on top that was not good at all and left me with a bad taste. Make sure to CHECK YOUR RECEIPT as they had charged us for all combo hotpot and bbq while not all of us had got it and they had assured us that each person could chose individually. I went on safe mode and ordered the PLAIN CHICKEN BROTH, but it was not too intense, seemed watered down. I liked everything but the only I do not recommend was the EGGPLANT for the bbq, they added some garlic sauce on top that was not good at all. Asegúrate también de CHEQUEAR TU RECIBO ya que en nuestro caso nos cargaron precio del combo hotpot y bbq a todos aunque no todos habíamos pedido el combo y previamente nos habían asegurado que cada uno podría elegir individualmente.

I've hot pot-ed so much the past month that all the places are starting to blur together. We did Hometown's AYCE hot pot and BBQ combo for ~$45pp, and it was pretty decent for the price. The hot pot side was all the standard fare, no complaints. BBQ-wise, I didn't care for the grilled jerky (ew), but almost everything else was great, especially the black pepper-marinated meat. Space is huge, and AYCE comes with dessert, which for us was a soupy mango sago pudding. I would skip the fresh juices, as enticing as they seem with interesting flavors like Carrot + Milk, Watermelon + Lychee, etc. In reality, they didn't taste very good. Thankfully, they were less than $5.

(Overall: A) - By recommendation of a coworker, we visited Hometown Hotpot located near Chinatown. I was very thrilled with the overall hotpot experience here as $38/pp is not a bad price for the diverse options we had to choose from. The meats seemed fresh that maintained reasonable quality and an intriguing selection, even including some Chinese-leaning choices like pig blood and tong hao. The restaurant is spacious and clean with a larger downstairs area to dine as well! -- Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: +1 Service: +1 Menu: +1 Overall: +4 A IG: @amei.eats
